Sid Vale Folk are a mixed choir of about forty souls which was founded by Sue King in September 2008.
We meet to practise on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Our songs are a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs, loosely described as “folk”. We try to reflect different themes and times of the year in our performances. The choir are constantly adding to the repertoire and often revisit old friends. Members print their own copies from the website or down-load onto their own hand-held electronic devices.
Our venue is the Kingswood and Devoran Hotel, Sidmouth. However, from the beginning of January to mid February when the hotel is being re-furbished we meet in the cellar bar in Kennaway House.
Members only pay when they attend. The cost is £1.50 per evening.
New members are welcome. There is no audition to join although recruits are expected to be able to hold a basic tune. We generally sing unaccompanied.
The choir support one or two local charities each year and other good causes as the need arises.
